Student Visa (Last up-date 10 JAN. 2008)

STEP 1: Application
It is necessary to submit in person or by courier the following documentation:







Visa Application form. Incomplete applications may be rejected; and all the applications are subject to verification.

Photocopy of the Passport
(The Passport must be valid at least for the term of the visa)

Proof of enrolment in a Chilean school or university indicating that he or she has been accepted as an student.

Proof of financial status: Letter of economic independence/support sign by the parents or a Statement from the educational sponsor, e.g. AFS, Butler, Tufts, etc.












A medical certificate that applicant has no communicable diseases, issued within 30 days of coming to this Consulate to get the visa, issued by applicant's school health service or private physician (Medical Doctor), on issuer's letterhead.
For Instance: "To the Consulate of Chile in New York: Please be advised that Ms. or Mr. (Patient's full name) is in excellent health. She or He is free from infectious or communicable diseases. Therefore, She or He can travel abroad for study without restriction. Medical Doctor's Signature, Stamp and date".

An HIV Negative test report, issued within the same time period.

Police certificate issued by the FBI stating that the applicant has no records.






U.S. Students have to enclose a Money Order for US$ 131.- payable to 'Consulate of Chile" to pay the administrative-reciprocal fee.
Fees varies according with applicant's nationality.

Three (3) recent passport photographs (2" x 2 ")



STEP 2: Appointment to stamp the visa

- One week after the delivery of your documentation, you have to call us to set the appointment to stamp the visa on your passport. The student must appear in person at this Office for this appointment. Please call us from Monday to Friday, between 11:30 AM - 2:00 PM and 3:00 PM - 5:00 PM.

PLEASE BE ADVISED THAT:

1.- The Student visa does not allow the student to work.


2.- The Student visa is valid for a maximum of one year, renewable in Chile.


3.- If you live in New England (MA, ME, NH, RI or VT) you also can apply at the Honorary Consulate of Chile in Boston: 1 Bernardo O’Higgins Circle, Brighton,
